A weird day on Ice...
Like the title says, it's been a weird day on the Ice ocean today. First, this afternoon they decided to reboot the server to help with some lag issues - then it turns out there was a problem with the client program, and no one could get on for over an hour. Then later this happened...
I hop the ferry from my home island to return some charts to my ship, only to find this. Sometimes you'll arrive at an island to find the light dim and either a green or a blue tint (depending on if the island has been invaded by zombies or skellies) - I had no idea what a red tint meant. Then it turned into a kind of red-scale version of the screen. Then it turned kind of orange. Then it did this...
I was thinking maybe they were trying to emulate a sunrise, then this happened...
Kind of hard to emulate sunrise if there's no light at all. It's easy to do this on a building - not so easy to do an entire island. Finally, the lights came back on and the weirdness continued. First, a strange blue creature named Nolech showed up (sorry, I didn't get a picture), joined the circle, had a connection problem, then left. Then her sister Solech showed up...
Solech would be the purple girl with the disconnect icon above her head. She stood there for a while, inviting lots of speculation and theories, then left and went the way of Nolech. The rest of us stood around for a while, singing songs, until I decided to go do something useful. But it was't over yet....
This is not what I meant when I said everything takes a greenish tint during a zombie invasion -- this is just more weirdness.
I haven't been on very long, but apparently they do interesting little things to celebrate holidays (everyone was a zombie at Halloween, we recently had the pirate olympics - things like that) - and some people are speculating that we'll see more strange things like this before the next Holiday.
At least it keeps things interesting...
UPDATE: Nolech and Solech had pirate info pages, but those have been deleted - should have grabbed a picture of those too....
UPDATE 9/05/08: The inn is still green - after careful inspection we've decided that the light in the upper corner might be a color change light. The question now is - Who put it there? The owner of the inn hasn't logged in since sometime last year...
